Freshmen: K – 1st Grade

8-10 campers per group | 3:1 supervision ratio

With some of the loudest, most spirited voices on camp, Freshmen at Deer Mountain do it all! They make great friends, experience many firsts, and make camp their own—very quickly.

Experiencing DMDC

Our Freshman activity program is designed to draw out interests, learn skills, and encourage positive qualities at a young age. Each day includes two swim periods (instructional and recreational), one team sports and one fine arts period, a weekly tennis lesson, and a variety of other activities: think boating and fishing, nature, gymnastics, archery, golf, martial arts, ropes course and zip line, music, dance, drama, Lego-land, special events, and more!

Elective Programs: Freshman Club

While these little adventurers want structure, a bit of independence allows them to begin cultivating interests. Freshman Club is an elective program that allows them to make individual choices for one period each day. Choices alternate daily and all curriculum areas are represented, so they can participate in more of their favorites.

Boys and girls are in separate, small groups—approximately 8-10 campers with 2 counselors each. Post-college-aged counselors work with every one to two groups to offer an extra layer of support. Division Leaders oversee groups and counselors, become close with campers, and communicate with parents throughout the summer. At every activity, professional experts work with your child to provide enriching exposure to new interests—and make them feel comfortable enough to give everything a shot.
