Deer Mountain Day Camp’s staff members are fun, caring and committed to bringing our summer program to life. Our staff is comprised of Senior Staff members and Counselors, many of whom have grown up at Deer Mountain. Camp has played a huge part in their lives and they want our campers to feel safe, welcome, comfortable and relaxed so they can have fun, be silly, try new things and become part of our camp community. Ultimately, our staff members want to share the camp that many of them have grown up with so that our current campers feel like Deer Mountain is their place too.
Senior Staff Members
Senior Staff members serve as Division Leaders, who oversee specific age groups at camp and support and guide our counselors, as well as Domestic and International Coaches and Instructors who lead the various activities at camp. All of our Senior Staff members are post-college professionals who are teachers, psychologists, school social workers or experts in the activity they oversee at camp.
Counselors work with specific groups of campers, helping them feel welcome, participating with them at activities and celebrating great moments with them throughout the summer. College-aged counselors lead every group. A small number of high school students, who are graduates of our Counselor-In-Training Program, work as assistants.
Our Senior Staff members and Counselors work together at each activity area, resulting in a 3 to 1 supervision ratio.
