The Deer Mountain staff team is a huge part of our tradition of caring for campers. Many of our counselors and senior
staff members have been Deer Mountain campers themselves. Deer Mountain has been their home for a long time and they
truly want the next generation of campers to feel welcome, safe and secure at camp.

Caring for our campers is a true team effort. Large in number, our staff is composed of Senior Staff members,
teachers and child care professionals who supervise specific activities and age groups at camp as well as
Counselors, college students who lead groups and some high school students, graduates of our Counselor In
Training Program, who assist. Putting all this together, we have a 3 to 1 camper to staff ratio at any
given activity at camp. This tight, kind, caring and consistent level of supervision enables us to give our
campers the personal attention they need to feel safe, secure and comfortable enough to engage in all the fun
activities and events that we have at camp.

Division Leaders oversee specific age groups of campers. They work very closely with each camper's
family and with our counselor staff to ensure that each camper's needs are met. Don't be surprised
when your child's division leader checks in with you both before and during the summer.

Specialty Leads and Athletic Directors work with our campers in the different activities we have around camp
(Ceramics, Cooking, Soccer, Tennis, etc.). The specialty staff is large in number and each team member
specializes not only in a particular skill area but also in working with a particular age group of campers.
As a result, they deliver projects, activities and instruction in a very age-appropriate way.

Our Counselors are the big brothers and big sisters that spend each day of the summer with our campers, laughing
with them, sharing high fives with them and helping them feel welcome and accepted at camp. Our Division Leaders
partner with our counselors so that each of them feels supported and has the supervision they need to help them
lead their groups, develop individual relationships with campers to help them feel connected to camp and set up
the structures needed to keep them safe.
